Cecil Abungu

Coordinator

Cecil is the Coordinator of ILINA. In this role, he sets the research, talent development, and policy engagement direction of ILINA. He is also a PhD candidate at the University of Cambridge, where he studies how UK labor law doctrine will need to adapt to the use of AI tools, and a Research Affiliate with the Institute for Law and AI. Outside of his PhD work, Cecil’s recent research has focused on the legal foreseeability of harms caused by autonomous AI agents, and the role of developing countries in global catastrophic risk-focused governance of AI. He holds an undergraduate law degree from Strathmore University and a Master of Laws degree from Harvard Law School.
