Our mission
Frontier AI is advancing rapidly and could pose catastrophic risks to humanity if developed or deployed without adequate safeguards in place. Addressing these risks will require well-coordinated global efforts. Consequently, we believe Africans should play an active role in shaping the future of advanced AI and contributing towards ensuring that AI systems are developed and deployed with safety as a foremost priority.
At its current pace of development, frontier AI could pose catastrophic risks to human safety, and we need well co-ordinated global efforts to prevent the risks from materializing.
Consequently, we believe that it is important for Africans to contribute towards ensuring that Advanced AI is developed and deployed with safety as the top priority.
Focus
We pursue our mission by: conducting research, engaging with African policy makers, engaging with multilateral institutions and in multilateral fora, and supporting the work of some partner AI safety organisations in the U.S. and the EU. We also design and execute annual AI safety field-building programs.
